Excited about the Idea Camp
I really enjoy reading books on the Christian life. I like reading blogs and twitters of current Christian leaders, and I’m inspired to move closer to God by a lot of what they say. Excitingly, many Christian leaders are going to be in my neighborhood in April for Catalyst West Coast….
But I won’t get to see them or hear them. The conference costs over $200 per person, and that isn’t a priority for my family, or for the church where I worship, fellowship and volunteer.
But thanks to a whole group of people who also love Jesus and the Church, I get to hang out with a different group of Christian superstars in Irvine on February 27-28, 2009. The Idea Camp was set up by Charles Lee, cultural catalyst and founder of JustOne.org. It bills itself as an “unconference” and here is its goal:
We are gathering some of the most innovative and creative leaders from around the country (this means YOU!) to share ideas, intentionally network, and move collaboratively into idea-making. Whether your passion is church leadership, non-profit work, social entrepreneurialism, technology, media, creativity, culture making, church planting, spiritual formation, compassionate justice, etc., this is the conference for YOU.
Sounds intriguing, right? I’m interested in the tech and spiritual formation aspects, especially. Some of the current “Idea Session” facilitators are Spencer Burke, Penny Hunter, Zach Hunter, Eric Bryant, Greg Atkinson, Dawn Carter, Shah Ashfar and Brad Abare – all of whom are really excited about being Jesus in their community.
Also attending are my Twitter buddies who love to work with technology and the Church: Greg Atkinson, DJ Chuang and Cynthia Ware. All attenders are encouraged to bring ideas and plans for change.
And the best part of the conference is that it is is FREE! I feel so loved
Join us at Newsong Church in Irvine on February 27-29, and share your smarts with us!
